Daystar Academy, an IB World School

The idea for Daystar Academy began over 25 years ago when a few visionary people formed a board to determine what an urban Christian school should look like in response to the need for Christian educational options in downtown Chicago. Daystar opened its doors in 1997, with 12 students in kindergarten through fourth grade. Several years and two moves later, Daystar is now in its permanent home, a facility that allows them to serve a current enrollment of 330 students in preschool through eighth grade, with a high school launcbhing in August, 2019. The mission of Daystar is to provide a faith-based, culturally-engaged manner using curriculum and programming structures consistent with Christian philosophy and the best available educational theory and practice.  Daystar is now fully authroized to offer the IB (International Baccalaureate) Middle Years Program (MYP) for grades 6-10 and a candidate schhol for the Pre-K through grade 5 Primary Years Program (PYP).  Daystar will offer the IB Diploma Program for high school as the launch calls ages up to the Diploma Program grades of 11 and 12.
